Pure Ele Troll/Hydra/Griffin/Ettin Solo Build
Kinetic Armour
Armour of Earth
Sliver Armour
Elemental Attunement[E]
Stone Daggers
Teinai's Crystals
Aftershock
Aura of Restoration
Earth 14
Energy Storage 12
No superior runes, mixed Drok's armour and Galigords Stone Staff
Fairly simple tactics wise - get just out of range of target group, cast EA, AoR and Kinetic. Aggro with SD, cast AoE. Then it's a case of SD, TC and Aftershock with the occasional SA to top it all off with some extra armour and damage. Providing you keep the enchants up (and Galigords is the real help here), you shouldn't have too many problems. Energy management is reasonably good as well, just watch that EA does not drop and AoR keeps health up. It takes a bit of practice to get the timing right, but as the pics show, it's workable, cheap, and doesn't require carrying around or muling special armour
I can't claim all the credit for this as it's been inspired by reading various other threads, but I haven't seen this exact build before. If it's been posted before, then all credit to the originator
P.S. Don't blame me if you get cr*ppy drops like I did

Go out the Talus chute exit of Droks and just stay left, it goes right into the cave. You can't miss it...

not a bad build but i personally prefer my build. its more robust does more damage and has better healing and allows me to take on over 6 hydras at a time ..
Geo-tank (hydra farming build)
E/X
Stats:
Earth Max (sup rune and hat)
energy storage max (minor rune if you like)
kit:
any rod with a 20% enchantment bonus. galigords staff is the obvious choice here.
Skills:
stone daggers
kinetic armour
armour of earth
obsidian flame
crystal wave
earth attunement
ward of stability
ether renewal
Tactics:
before initiating aggro cast earth attunement and kinetic armour. aggro with stone daggers to keep kinetic up (kinetic renews itself everytime you cast a spell). then cast armour of earth. hydras like to drop meteors and they will do so fairly early in the fight so get ward of stability up to avoid being KD'ed and interrupted. spam stone daggers as much as you like and recast your enchantments as necessary. use ether renewal only when you have all enchantments up for maximum effect and spam stone daggers to get max healing and energy back.
with this build and with practice it is fairly easy to take out a group of 3 hydras using just stone daggers as damage. for bigger groups use the bigger damage spells but be wary of the exhaustion from obsidian flame. with practice 8 hydras at a go is achievable.
points to remember:
never let kinetic armour drop in a fight
time your ether renewal so that it isnt interrupted by meteors (or make sure you have ward of stability up)
cast kinetic armour before aggro as it has a long cast time.
i prefer ether renewal to ele attunement as it acts a superb self heal and good energy management all in one. some sort of anti KD is vital imo because i really hate being interrupted and ward of stability is good for that as it lasts a reasonable time.. silver armour is unnecessary in this build as armour of earth and kinetic armour will boost your AL to over 200 anyway and the dmg output from it is minimal. try swapping in another dmg skill or anti KD maybe instead?

and if you are hunting ettins i recommend this build:
Nuker
E/X
Stats
Fire 16 (12 + hat + sup rune)
energy storage 16
Kit
max dmg wand and off hand item with energy boost
or
max damge staff
Skills:
flare
fireball
rodgorts invocation
meteor storm
pheonix
flame burst
inferno
aura of restoration
Tactics:
fairly straight forward. once you are past the mergoyles and caromi cast aura of restoration. initiate aggro and immediately start casting meteor storm. you will take a few hits whilst casting but dont worry aura of restoration will heal you. after meteor storm follow up with pheonix and flame burst. if the positiong is right then you should be surrounded with crispy fried ettins by the time the last meteor lands. if not or they have scattered you still have plent of energy and offense left to make short work of them.

Understand the aversion to knockdowns and interrupts, but the hydras are stupid and generally cast meteor as their first or second attack, Generally I let it hit for all of........ooooh 10 or 12 damage, get up, cast daggers to ensure Kinetic is renewed and let the killing commence
As for Sliver Armour, when you have 3+ hydras on you, the damage output and damage reduction is significant imo.

When you fight hydras Silver Armor is almost useless, but think when you aggro a large number of Trolls, the damage output of the 10 seconds of Silver Armor alone should be enough to drop 2-3 of them (without casting anything else).

I know it goes against the grain, but as I mostly use a mesmer secondary, I dumped all my meagre extra points into inspiration and subbed Mantra of Flame for Sliver in my hydra build.......even better

the reason ive put ward of stability in my build is because when you are fighting 8 hydras you are gonna get meteors dropping on you later in the fight as well cos they cast them as soon as they recharge. if you are casting ether renewal or spamming daggers under ether renewal you just dont want to be interrupted

Why would you use obsidian flame, stone daggers, or SLiver (turns out its not silver armor like commonly thought) armor? From my experience, they dont boost your damage output because they kill single targets, and any targets you didnt have time to kill will be dead from they AoE before you even start focusing your attack on them.
[Edit]-turns out sliverr armor is good for killing the bosses when troll farming
